Adding a new Camera to my Arsenal (Nikon D5300 + Firmware Hack)
I've been using a Nikon D3400 since 2019 for both photos and videos, and while it's excellent for photography, it's not ideal for video. While I would like to pick up a Sony A7S III, Sony FX6, or an Arri Alexa Classic I can not afford to do so at this time. I do plan to own one or all of them cameras later though. They are on my radar but I can't budget or justify it at this moment. I picked up a used Nikon D5300 which is better than the D3400 yet it being an older DSLR than the D3400. Why did I choose this camera? I could of gone with many offerings from Panasonic's LUMIX line, a cheaper Sony or even a Canon camera. It is known for cameras that Nikon for photography, Sony and Canon, and ...

In this video I will unbox and give initial impressions of tools I have recently acquired. I plan to keep improving my arsenal of both tools and parts. As I collect more and more I will post additional videos like this with a similar format. I run a Computer Repair shop and Informa...
New Table and Tool Box (National Public Seating HDT3-3072B + Husky HOTC5623BB2S)
Просмотров 65Месяц назад
Major upgrades have happened to the workshop/server room. We got a much needed brand new table and a huge toolbox to store our tools. The old table was on it's way out. It was not designed for my use case and could barely hold the weight of heavy servers. It has an expandable section that gets in the way and even then the table was not as big as I would of liked. In my line of work, I need a la...
Replacing a failed Hard Drive in my File Server (TrueNAS Core)
Просмотров 162Месяц назад
A hard drive in my NAS (Network Attached Storage/File Server) was starting to act up. It will occasionally have read timeouts and huge latency spikes. The HDD also failed several SMART tests. It's safe to assume the drive is going to completely fail soon. The ZFS pool was downgraded to a degraded state. I run my NAS using ZFS in a RAIDZ2, which means I can loose up to two drives at the same tim...

Fix Phone Charging Port (PurePort USB-C & Lightning Cleaning Tool)
Просмотров 88210 месяцев назад
I've been having issues with my Samsung phone's USB-C port not wanting to charge. I'd have to keep un-plugging and plugging in the charging cable several times including wiggling it around just to get a charge. Frustrated with this, I found a tool that can clean both the charging port on your phone, along with the cables too. There are two variants, a USB-C version for Android devices and a ple...
Setting up Workbench PC + Upgrades (Lenovo ThinkCentre M900 Tiny)

I needed a computer for the workshop/server room so I could do things such as console into servers, login to WebGUI's, download drivers for computers in the shop, etc. This computer will be my workbench PC to do those tasks. It will also be a computer I can do lab work on, such as boot other operating systems, dev work, etc. These units are awesome little units. They are much smaller than a SFF...

In this video I will unbox and install my cable management brackets for the server rack. They will organize network cables such as Ethernet cables, OM3 Fiber Optic and SFP DAC cables neatly in the rack. I use three StarTech.com CMDUCT1UX 1U Horizontal Finger Duct which cost roughly $40 a piece. These have front covers on them to give them a very clean look. They protrude approximately 2.5 in fr...
Fixing Rails for HP ProLiant Server (1U RackSolutions) - Latch Plate
Просмотров 864Год назад
In this video we will fix the rail installation for my HP ProLiant DL360p Gen8. The issue is the screw covers stick out and don't properly close. These act as locking latches to the rails to prevent the unit from sliding. I contact RackSolutions, which is where I got my 1U HP rails for the unit. The issue is the latch plates are reversed and one goes specifically on the left side, the other on ...

This switch is my POE (Power over Ethernet) switch that will power all my WAPs (Wireless Access Points), security cameras and VOIP phones. Glad I bought a Pioneer BDR-XD07UHD that came in unpatched. It was just plug and play with libredrive.
I'm looking into one of these devices because every Android phone I have eventually the ports die on me. I hate USBC. I can clean it a couple times and eventually only certain cables work with it. I hope in the future wireless charging gets good enough. So where we can stop putting charging cable ports on phones because it's physics. Eventually they all become loose. And you have to send them to get repaired
2.5Gps port speed should be the new standard already. It's been in circulation for a few years now. Many vendors offer 2.5Gps, Mikrotik is falling behind sadly.
Hi I need really good DAC for monitoring, without any hardware but just an headphone output ( with very good plannars ) Was thinking about Hilo / RME or topping, what do you think will give me the highest fidelity with less coloration? it’s for mixing mastering. Thanks
Hopefully Alex is giving you a cut brother.. Seems like you sold a whole shit load for him....
Ill rather build my own with 1,2.5, 10 and 100gb connection and use opnsense.. ohh thats what I am doing at the moment
It's unfair to Netgate to say their pricing is highway robbery - They need to add some margin to fund Software Development which is the heart of the solution.
I want one
5 hoursĐ? .. man i do respect the detail ... but 5 hours ....
When you get into the software and configuring every page, it can add up. Probably the only video that'll ever be on RUclips regarding this unit too. Not a stone un-turned hopefully. I'll try to get better about adding chapter markers when I make these longer videos. I should do it as I'm editing but forget.
Just bought an AX-R97untested yesterday for $12. Took it home and everything works but the front panel light show which I don't care about anyway. Quite satisfied so far. Great video.
It's quite an in-expensive and easy fix. Fuse bulbs shouldn't be too hard to find. I go over the power meter fix in the video.
I Like your video but 5 hours is prety long
Lol Damm didn’t believe you had to double check that .
What is the advantage of having the management and device LANs etc on different physical interfaces?
Physical isolation is better than VLANs. The reason to now have the management stuff just on the LAN is so people on the LAN can't see the iDRAC, iLO, SSH, web gui's etc. of servers and infrastructure. Only my workstation can access the management network. Since I have a card with multiple NICs, and servers have dedicated NICs for management anyway, it's easier to setup in my opinion to VLANs as well.
Ok thanks.
So you still have to set up firewall access rules if u require access to devices on different physical LANs correct?
Thank you for this video! I'm not going to buy it but I have to admit I really love these video's. Glad you shared this in depth experience
Thanks. If there is enough interest, I may do videos on my previous Netgate units. I never did a video on the SG-1100 but I might play around with it and make a video.
Could you provide a link to purchase the upgrade network card?
Here it is directly from Netgate: shop.netgate.com/products/4-port-10-gbe-sfp-card OR, you can look up Supermicro AOC-STG-i4S on eBay and pick it up used. Make sure it is the i4S and not the b4S, that would mean it's Broadcom instead of Intel. You WANT an Intel based controller.

you obviously got this down how would i run a server rack containing a nas 3 computers 1 1200w 2 1000w and id imagine the nas would be a normal wattage its def not gonna be anything special it will be my first so idk haven't a built it yet but what would be your solution to this problem but i rent a house so i cant just make a outlet for it like i would love to but out of the question none the less and it has to have the gf approval factor don't gotta answer doubt you'll see this but if you do plz help man lol thank you hope your having a wonderful day and thanks for the vid
I thought this was a Chrome OS ONLY computer?
watching this cause I am upgrading one of these units (great information by the way...) at 59:30 you are fussing with the locking tab for the cards... i have a better alternative to add and I can't get it out of my head... cut off half of the tab that is in the way of the graphics card and bam you don't need to worry about it anymore... (just wanted to add that in there for you as I faced this same problem installing a gtx 1650) now I just got to find me a new gpu because yeah it still needed the extra power... even though I was told the 1650 would run on the pci e without additional power... sheesh... oh well great video though... how do I get to be one of your little brothers so you can put together mine lol!!!
Great review. I have a chance to get this amp you reviewed or I can get the JVC AX-44. Which one would you choose? Thanks
I got mine off Amazon brand new! Working so far doesn't fit quite right in my lenovo p500 but it works. I was able to rip a 4k copy of Your Name unfountely AnyDvd is gone now so I have to use Xreveal for now and the brightness of the rip is off for some reason but it worked. I also wanted it to backup my most important stuff on M-Discs so i'll try that soon.
Certain video parts were useful, so thanks. m... okay.
What was the total cost of this?
Useless video

You suck! Couldn’t even get it open!
Update on my comment entered 10 months ago: I followed your instructions, opened the back of my laptop and (miracles do happen after all!) was able to move the hinge into place and used a longer screw to fix it! Left it abroad with family, and have used it there a few times. So thank you so much for your video!!
Im a DC engineer and we have a mix of HP, IBM and Dells in our 3 data halls. I prefer the HP's over the other brands in terms of support and management. They just seem to have it nailed compared to the others. The "Firmware Maintenance package" is superb. You can put it onto a USB key or DVD and baseline every hardware item in the server to the latest "baseline standard". I much prefer the iLo too. Dell's DRAC can be a pain in the rear sometimes.
This man is a genius I swear man I need to speak to you I’ve been experiencing this internet interference issue for over 10 years now in my apt building things used to be good at one point I need your help man if you can get back to me it would mean the world because my games feel nice and smooth and snappy offline and as soon as I connect to the internet my games don’t lag it’s just before unpleasant on the eyes and does feel right with what you see throwing the whole online gaming experience completely off , what is crazy is to the naked eye it seems fine but it’s when you feel it that something is off!
Cable Mod cables are garbage.... had 2 different sets fray and fall apart on me... Almost damaged my system
I've used them on several systems with no issues. I am not really the biggest fan of having to use them either due to the overhead and shipping times. It doesn't scale well. If they are having quality issues, I certainly will drop them as I only use quality components. I'll probably look for a new solution in the future. I don't like the cables that come with the PSU as they are often way to long or have too many extra connectors on a single cable.
@@TheN3tw0rq Also how they handled the CS of my 2 sets was shit and I refuse to use them or ever recommend them as a company. Example, I open my case one day and the ground wire in the middle of the SATA cable wasnt even connected to one of the middle connectors and just dangling there.... that same kit had fraying issues and the braiding can out of the connector exposing the wires. The other kit had a similar fraying issue.... I tossed both in the garbage. The cables that came in my EVGA PSU are really nice so I switched to them...zero issues
I have 2 X99 boards sitting in my closet... LOL Might build a Proxmox box soon
I have an old telephone network interface box in my front yard that’s no longer in use. It’s in a spot that I am currently working on a garden bed. I wasn’t that worried about it but while digging, I unearthed the thick black cable that runs to the box. Is it safe to dig up the grounding rod and move the box? What if I were to just cut that black line?
Is the telephone NID for your house or the neighbors? Generally the NID is considered the telephone company's property and not for you to modify. If you don't have landline phone or DSL internet, and that NID is for your house, you can cut the black phone line. However if you ever go to get service in the future they'll have to run a new phone line from the street to your house since you cut it. Also note that things such as home security systems may rely on a phone line being connected.
@@TheN3tw0rq we live pretty rurally. I’m pretty sure it’s just for this residence. We get fiber optic through a different company and would never have any use for it. Thanks for the reply.
nicely done!
Good job man.
no need to worry about dust shield alert, yours was smashed to bits...!
4hours for upgrade is pretty long! I like your video but is long!

Would this pc expect pci nvme m.2?
Can someone tell me where I can get one of these drives that are already flashed I would greatly greatly appreciate it. Thanks for any help.
Good job, I guess... But a few of your parts choices dont make sense. Im pretty sure you cannot overclock on that chipset so why you got the "K" SKU is beyond me. You could have bought a cheaper PSU. GTX 1070 ti or 1080 offer much better performance that a 16 series. Probably cheaper as well. DDR3L is pointless in a desktop. Windows 7? In 2019? Seriously?
1) 4.00 GHz base clock vs 3.60 GHz, 4.40 GHz turbo vs 4.00 GHz with only 4 watts of additional TDP. It's the best CPU for the socket which was why it was chosen and fully compatible. The stock Dell heatsink is better than Intel's stock heatsink and will handle the 88W TDP just fine. It's not that big of a jump compared to the stock CPU. 2) I could of but I don't cheap out on power supplies. Granted a Seasonic Prime is a bit overkill for this build, I was footing the bill and didn't care. Since we were replacing the PSU regardless, put the best part that is compatible. 3) You're right, those cards perform better. I didn't price out used parts at the time. I was only wanting to put current new parts I could buy direct from Newegg. The 1660 Ti seemed appropriate for the build and at that time. It was for occasional gaming. Even the 1660 Ti had clearance issues with this case though. With this kinda case and limited airflow, you really want to stick to smaller, budget cards. 4) It was all Crucial had in stock at the time with little to no price difference. I only mentioned it because it was still compatible and would work with the system. 5) Yes really, arguably Microsoft's best Operating System. It was still supported until 2020 with ESU bumping that out to 2023. Since I operate a business I did get ESU licenses. I will do the same for Windows 10.
